Buying cryptocurrencies just got a lot easier in Philippines. Thanks to the partnership between cryptocurrency investment app Abra and payment processor ECPay, Filipinos will now be able to purchase cryptocurrencies from more than 6,000 7-Eleven retail stores across the country.
The announcement of this partnership came yesterday. Abra, as we told above, is a cryptocurrency investment app while ECPay is a payment processor having partnership with many retail stores across Philippines, including 7-Eleven stores.

Here’s how the partnership between these two companies will help people buy crypto easily:
- First of all, the user of Abra app will locate a CLIQQ kiosk in any 7-Eleven store near him/her. It can be located easily by installing the CLIQQ mobile app (link)
- Once user goes to the CLIQQ kiosk at the 7-Eleven store, he/she will find ‘Abra’ listed under the Bills payment section of kiosk. Here user needs to select it and fill the required fields.
- Next step is to enter the amount. Any amount between PHP500 to PHP100,000 can be deposited on a daily basis with transaction fee of 2%.
- The kiosk will ask the user to confirm transaction details. Upon confirming, the receipt can be printed and cash can be given to the cashier. The cash will be added to the user’s Abra wallet within 1-2 business days. Once it’s in the wallet, user can use it for purchasing Bitcoins.
As you can see, this is more of a new payment option added by Abra instead of Bitcoins being sold directly at 7-Eleven stores. The stores and ECPay are just intermediary payment facilitators for a purchase of cryptocurrency that happens in another app.
Nevertheless, it’s a good development for the adoption of cryptocurrencies in Philippines.
