Telegram messenger has been banned in many countries. It started with China, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Iran. Even in Russia, the court ordered an immediate ban on the messaging app.
The way it works is simple. It is either your ISP – that is asked to filter Telegram, so you can’t access the app anymore. Or the government blocking your access to the app.
Either way, there are two simple ways to access and unblock Telegra on your computer. We are sharing these methods for a reason:
Most Are Here To Access Telegram Groups / Channels
In the cryptocurrency space, there are hundreds and thousands of Telegram groups and channels. All of them have a purpose – to share an update with you.
And if your Telegram is blocked, you can’t open the app to see these messages. You miss out on a lot of ICO announcements, partnership news, and other meaningful updates.
For this reason alone, I have written this article. Even if you have a different reason, you can try these methods out and see which one works for you.
Here are the two methods:
Method 1: Tweak The Host Files
Communication happens via IP address, and this is where the host files are important. You will tweak the host file requesting it to locate, identify, and allow host on an IP network. To put it in simple words, you will edit the host file to access Telegram.
How to do that? Simple:
On Windows 10 and Windows 8:
- Press the Windows key.
- Type Notepad
- From the search result, right click the Notepad
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Notepad -> Open -> Paste this: c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts.
This will open the hosts file. Add these lines:
149.154.167.118 t.me 149.154.167.118 telegram.me 149.154.167.99 telegram.org 149.154.167.99 core.telegram.org 149.154.167.99 desktop.telegram.org 149.154.167.99 macos.telegram.org 149.154.167.120 web.telegram.org 149.154.167.24 venus.web.telegram.org 149.154.175.16 pluto.web.telegram.org 149.154.171.22 flora.web.telegram.org 149.154.171.22 flora-1.web.telegram.org
On Mac OS:
- Open Finder
- From the menu, select Go -> Go To Folder…
- Type this: /etc/hosts
- Right click on the hosts file and open using any editor.
Add these lines (similar as above):
149.154.167.118 t.me 149.154.167.118 telegram.me 149.154.167.99 telegram.org 149.154.167.99 core.telegram.org 149.154.167.99 desktop.telegram.org 149.154.167.99 macos.telegram.org 149.154.167.120 web.telegram.org 149.154.167.24 venus.web.telegram.org 149.154.175.16 pluto.web.telegram.org 149.154.171.22 flora.web.telegram.org 149.154.171.22 flora-1.web.telegram.org
That’s it. This will unblock the Telegram web version, so you can login (using your phone number and the code) to open and use the messaging app on your browser.

Method 2: Use VPN To Bypass Restrictions
VPN (Virtual Private Network) technology allows you to access websites remotely and anonymously as they change your IP address. You can use VPNs to access the web version of Telegram.
The tricky part, however, is to know which VPN is suitable for your country. We have a list of popular and free VPNs that you can try:
Remember: When the Internet connection is weak or poor, VPNs will not work.
